Beervana

Portland is known for its breweries, over 40 of them, in fact. A former mayor even gave the city a new nickname; “Beertown.” (I’m partial to Bridgetown and Beervana myself). I’ve been slowly drinking my way through Portland, think Nic Cage in “Leaving Las Vegas” then forget that image. So far I’ve checked the bigger breweries off my list, Bridgeport, Deschutes, Widmer Bros. Yesterday, I went for something smaller; Cascade Brewing. As of now, this is my favorite brewery in town. Friendly staff, great space, and tasty beer. Cascade is known for its sour beers, a tart genre that I’ve grown fond of. Sour beers are mouth puckering and often have a fruity taste to them. To my limited knowledge not many places do this style of beer, so I was glad to find it in my neighborhood. I’m not a beer nerd and yelp already has plenty of reviews, but I’ll offer this, sitting outside on a warm Portland day drinking a beer is the perfect way to spend Labor Day Weekend, or any weekend. I enjoyed the brew so much that I would go back on a rainy day.
